The origin of Werewolf by Night in Marvel Comics can be traced back to “Marvel Spotlight” #2, published in February 1972. This issue introduced the character Jack Russell and established his background as the cursed werewolf.
In “Marvel Spotlight” #2, written by Roy Thomas with art by Mike Ploog, the story reveals that Jack Russell is the son of Gregor and Laura Russell.
